It wouldn’t be very secure of me to lay out every piece of information about my life. But I can give some insight on my perspective on my journey getting into a cyber career. I didn’t initially know I’d jump straight into information security. It really just started with my dad handing me an old windows xp, and a desire to play newer video games than solitaire. That meant research, building my first computer, and having a mindset of wanting more out of myself etc…. Now building computers for friends and family, I sit decently with a 32gb of ram and a 2060 gpu. The next related field I tried was an AP class for Java, that didn’t go to well, failing the AP final exam. Even so, I knew wanted to my life to revolve around computers and technology. Going into college I chose information security as a major, but I wasn’t too invested in reading every college book in every class, going straight to THM or HTB. It was a slow transition into actually putting in the required time, understanding that you can’t just sit back and expect to be successful. Around sophomore year I started seeing some of my peers putting in that extra work, and I didn’t know why I wasn’t like them. Imposter syndrome started hitting me. That was also the year I joined a club aiming to get the CompTIA Network+, I had little confidence I could do it.
